David Dinnell: "What Thought Is Like: artists’ film in the cinema"

David Dinnell will discuss the shifting contexts for the exhibition and reception of moving-image works by contemporary artists and filmmakers, contrasting the material conditions of the cinema with the gallery and online platforms and the transition of the cinema into both a site-specific space and a particular mode of attention. During the lecture, Dinnell will present a program (approx. 60 minutes) of contemporary artists’ films on 16mm and digital media.
