Documentation must be submitted for a minimum of 2 and maximum 5 works (or maximum of 3 works if you only apply with video).
When applying, a distinction is made between two types of works:
Works that are in themselves video works, film works, animation works, sound works, or video footage documenting performance works or installations.
Paintings, sculpture, drawings, prints, installations, photos and similar physical works.
FOR APPLICATIONS BASED ENTIRELY ON TYPE A WORKS
If your application is based entirely on works that belong within the Type A category, you must upload at least two and no more than three videos; the duration of each video cannot exceed one minute. When you submit videos, you cannot submit photographs or documentation for additional works.
You may NOT:
- take photographs of paintings (etc.) and insert them as a series of stills in a video.
- document the same work in more than one video - one video, one work.
Audio projects without video documentation will not be assessed.
To sum up: no more than 3 videos; no photographs.
Insert a five-second “sign” (white typeface against a black background) at the beginning of each video. The sign must state your name, application number, the title of the work, and whether the video features audio. If the video is an excerpt of a longer work, state the original length of the work.
For example: Hans Hansen – no. 679 – ”Title” no sound, original duration: 6 min.
This is to say that each video can have a duration of no more than one minute and five seconds (1 min 5 sec). Please note that videos with no opening “sign” will be rejected upon receipt.
The video must be in the format QuickTime mpeg4/H264 in the size 1920x1080 pixels, and the size of the file must not exceed 100MB.
FOR APPLICATIONS BASED ENTIRELY ON TYPE B WORKS
If your application is based entirely on works that belong within the Type B category, you must upload at least two works and no more than five works. You may document each work with up to two photographs, which means that the maximum number of photographs allowed is ten photographs. The size of the photographs must not exceed 1920x1080 pixels.
You may NOT use video to document this type of works.
To sum up: No more than 10 photographs, no videos.
FOR APPLICATIONS BASED ON TYPE A AND TYPE B WORKS
If you need to submit film-based works (Type A) and photographs documenting other works (Type B) you can upload no more than two videos (duration: no more than one minute) and photos documenting no more than three works. Each of these three works can be documented by up to two photographs.
To sum up: No more than 2 video; no more than 6 photographs
All other guidelines for Type A and Type B works must be observed.
Requirements for formats
Photos must be in jpeg format, maximum size of 1920x1080 pixels.
Videos must be compressed in mpeg4/H264 in size 1920x1080 pixels and must not exceed 100MB per video, and they must be played in QuickTime player.
PLEASE NOTE: All documentation that fails to meet these guidelines will be rejected. This means that the relevant works will not be used in the assessment of your application.
