Guidelines to applicants to our exchange student programme
Deadline for online registration April 12 for applicants for the academic year 2013/2014
1. WHO CAN APPLY FOR ADMISSION AS AN EXCHANGE STUDENT
Students enrolled in a foreign art academy or art school offering education in the visual arts can - when having fulfilled at least two years of education - apply for admission as an exchange student at the Schools of Visual Arts.
Danish citizens are not eligible for an exchange studentship at the Schools of Visual Arts.
Foreigners who do not comply with the above conditions, are kindly asked to apply for admission as a regular student through the yearly admission process.
The student must not have graduated from the home institution prior to the period applied for as an exchange student at the Schools of Visual Arts. Exchange students cannot prolong their stay beyond the date of graduation from the home institution.
2. WHEN TO APPLY FOR ADMISSION AS AN EXCHANGE STUDENT
Applicants for the autumn semester (October 1 – January 31) must register online during the spring semester. Deadline will be announced at the top of this webpage. Applications will be considered by the Study Board during the month of June, and applicants will normally have received an answer during the month of July.
Applicants for the spring semester (February 1 – June 30) must register online during the fall semester of the year before. Deadline will be announced at the top of this webpage. Applications will be considered by the Study Board during the month of November, and applicants will normally have received an answer during the month of December.
3. APPLICATION FORM
Please go to the top of this webpage and read the Guidelines to Applicants to our Exchange Student Programme. When you have registered online you will automatically receive the application form you have to fill in. The application form has to be certified by your home institution.
4. WHICH DOCUMENTATION MUST BE PROVIDED
At the top of this webpage please see the Guidelines to Applicants to our Exchange Student Programme with instructions as to which documentation has to be provided as well as guidelines to the electronic upload of the documentation.
5. ECTS POINTS
Applicants must be aware that the Schools of Visual Arts grants 30 ECTS points for each semester completed. Attention is drawn to the fact that the 30 ECTS points ARE NOT divided into individuel semester activities.
6. LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS
The applicant must be in command of English on a level which allows easy communication with professors, teachers and fellow-students, but no specific degree is required.
7. DEPARTMENTS ADMITTING EXCHANGE STUDENTS
Prospective exchange students may apply for admission to the following departments within the Schools of Visual Arts: School of Time-Based Media, Painting School 2, Sculpture School “Frederiksholms Kanal,” Sculpture School “Charlottenborg,” School of Wall and Space, School of Graphic Arts, and School of Media Arts.
8. FEES, LIVING EXPENSES, SCHOLARSHIPS ETC.
As from January 1, 2008, the Schools of Visual Arts must charge a tuition fee from international students, i. e. students who are not EU or EEA citizens.
The tuition fee amounts to 120,000.00 DKK per study year or 60,000.00 DKK for the autumn semester (October 1 to January 31) and 60,000.00 DKK for the spring semester (February 1 to June 30).
The tuition fee is payable before the start of the semester. The tuition fee for a whole study year may be split into two instalments corresponding to the two semesters. Payment is by money transfer to the Schools of Visual Arts’ bank account.
The Schools of Visual Arts does not offer any grants for covering the tuition fee.
Materials are paid for by the visiting student him/herself.
All living expenses (accommodation etc.) are paid by the exchange student him/herself. The Schools of Visual Arts does not dispose of either bursaries, scholarships or halls of residence and will not accept any responsibility for assisting exchange students with regard to accommodation, finances and related matters.
The exchange student him/herself must therefore ensure that they dispose of sufficient financial means before leaving their home country.
9. PERIOD OF STUDY
Exchange students can apply for up to one academic year.
It is expected that the stay of an exchange student, as far as possible, follows the semesters of the Schools of Visual Arts.
